Days between two dates
Add or subtract days from a date
How the days between dates are counted
The calculator counts the number of midnights between the two dates, which is the standard way durations are measured. From 1 January to 3 January is 2 days. If you need an inclusive count — counting both the first and last day, as in some rental or medication schedules — simply add 1 to the result.
The tool also shows the duration in weeks-plus-days and an estimate of working days (excluding Saturdays and Sundays), which is useful for project deadlines and delivery estimates. Public holidays vary by country, so subtract those manually.
Common uses
- Deadlines: days remaining until an exam, visa expiry, tax filing or project due date.
- Contracts & notice periods: find the exact date 30, 60 or 90 days from today.
- Pregnancy & medical: count days between appointments or from a reference date.
- Events: days until a wedding, Ramadan, Eid or a holiday trip.
Frequently asked questions
Does the count include the start and end dates?
The result counts the nights between the dates, so the start date is excluded and the end date is effectively included. For an inclusive both-ends count, add 1.
Does it handle leap years?
Yes. Calculations use real calendar dates, so 29 February is included automatically in leap years.
What counts as a working day?
The working-day figure excludes Saturdays and Sundays only. Public and religious holidays differ by country, so subtract those yourself.
