How marks percentage is calculated

The formula is simple: percentage = obtained marks ÷ total marks × 100. If you scored 430 out of 550, that's 430 ÷ 550 × 100 = 78.18%. For multiple subjects, add up all obtained marks and divide by the sum of all total marks — don't average the individual percentages, because subjects with different maximum marks would be weighted wrongly.

Typical grade bands

Most boards and universities in Pakistan, India and Bangladesh use bands close to these: A+ (90%+), A (80–89%), B (70–79%, First Division), C (60–69%, Second Division), D (50–59%), E/F (below 50%). Exact cut-offs differ by institution — the calculator shows the common scale, but always confirm with your official grade sheet.
